Friends in the NewsLibrary Offers WorkshopsIt’s a common problem of the 21st century; you sit down in front of your computer to do a little research, and three hours later, you find that although you’ve learned many interesting things in those three hours, you didn’t exactly find what you were looking for! Maybe it’s time to hone your online research skills. The Milton Public Library is sponsoring a series of workshops to help you with the information overload issues that many of us are experiencing today. The workshops include sessions on job searching, planning vacations, using library resources from home, and advanced Google searching. The trainer for these interactive sessions is Anna Litten, the Adult Services Librarian. Anna has been teaching research skills in academic and public libraries for almost 10 years, and most recently began a new series of workshops at the Wellesley Free Library. The first workshop, “Be Your Own Career Counselor”, takes place on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at 7:00pm. Participants will learn how to access and effectively use the many online tools available to job seekers, including career guidance tools, and sources for expert resume and interview prep. This one-hour session can help make a difference in planning your next career move. Future sessions will include “The Online Library 101” on Thursday, February 23, at 2pm, “Advanced Googling” Thursday, March 30 at 7pm, “Get Health Wise!” on Saturday, April 29 at 10am, and “Make a Quick Getaway” on Thursday, May 18 at 2pm. For more information on these informative and FREE workshops, stop by the Library and pick up a copy of the schedule or visit the web site at www.miltonlibrary.org and click on the events calendar. |
