Children's Programs Are Scheduled This Summer at the Library

"Starship Adventure at Your Library" has blasted off from the new Milton Public Library. Children ages 3 through 12 can register online for the library's summer reading club, and a wide variety of programs are on the schedule for children of all ages.

Programs for preschool children include the library's popular "Small Wonders" program for babies and toddlers, and the "Time for Tales" story time for children ages 3 to 5. In addition there will be programs presented by MadScience of Boston, Sparky's Puppets and Mike Bent's "Blast Off with Books." Authors Julie Hahnke ("Through the Eyes of a Raptor," "The Grey Ghost") and Deborah Kovacs ("Catie Copley") will introduce children to their works, and there will be art and cooking workshops.

Check the library Web site (www. miltonlibrary.org) for details and dates, including age levels and registration requirements. Flyers with the complete schedule are available in the Children's Room at the library.

Our first special event will be "Egg-bert 'nice in Space"on June 29 at 7 p.m. in the Keys Community Room. Presented by MadScience, "Egg-bert" will dazzle and entertain kids in grades one through six. The show includes a dry-ice comet in a tube, shivering scissors, a bubble shower, and much more. Admission by ticket only. Free tickets may be picked up in the Children's Room beginning June 19.

"Starship Adventure"is funded by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, the Massachusetts Regional Library Systems, The Friends of the Milton Public Library, and the Milton Junior Woman's Club.
