Fall 2009 Programs for Children at the Milton Public Library

We’re kicking off our fall programs for children at the Milton Public Library with a special visit with children’s author and illustrator Peter H. Reynolds. Children may know him best at the illustrator of the wildly popular “Judy Moody” series of books, authored by Megan McDonald. Reynolds has also written a number of best-selling picture books, such as The Dot, Ish, and The North Star. He is currently working on Rose’s Garden, dedicated to Rose Kennedy, and which he describes as an “ode to community, patience, and faith.” Reynolds writes “I am optimistic about a future where all children are encouraged to navigate their true potential. We have to be creative in the ways we reach all learners – to help them find their voice, be brave about expressing it – and be inspired to use their gifts to ‘make their mark’.” The co-owner of The Blue Bunny Bookstore in Dedham, Reynolds is active in community causes, and is founder and CEO of the educational media company FableVision, a creator of award-winning software to inspire creativity.

Free tickets are available in the children’s room at the library for this event, which will be held on Monday, September 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the Keys Community Room at the library.

On Wednesday, September 23 the popular lap-sit storytime for babies and toddlers, will resume. “Small Wonders” features nursery rhymes, songs, simple stories, and fun little listeners, and meets at 10:00 a.m. in the story room in the children’s department at the library.

Time for Tales, our story program for preschool children ages 3-5 will resume on Friday, September 25 at 10:30 a.m., also in the story room at the library. Join us for a fun-filled time of story and song.
